Coach’s Corner: What advice would you give your 18 year old self? – Power of Reflection

I move fast.

About 85% of the time, I’m a man on a mission, focused on a plan, and thinking about what to do next.

This helps achieve a bunch, but at times it has a downside.

That being said, I’ve been known to make the same mistake twice.

In today’s Coach’s Corner, I’m going to share with you a simple process to ensure that you’re actually learning from all your hard work and experiences.

CJ, A friend just gave birth to twins, a boy and girl. She and her husband collected from their friends exactly our answers to that question. Their plan is put together a book and give the children on their 18th birthday. Cool idea!

Mine was to listen to yourself! Collect insight from trusted advisors but make your decision based on your gut, because no one knows you and your inspiration like you do. Had I followed advise from others against my gut – my life likely be less than it is.

Great question…mine would be to be persistent. To ride journeys through the ups and downs each path takes. When I have stuck to a path, it has been wonderful to see how it blooms. I feel I’ve missed opportunities by stepping off of the path too soon. I’m focused now on finding that next career step that I can follow for the next 20 years.

    • This would be mine as well. As I look back there have been many times when I have been so close before I backed off.
